Mason's death

Mason was arrested on  December 23, 2024 in Grapevine Texas for alleged possession of drugs. Mason was a diabetic and it is the family's position he was having a medical emergency from conversations with Mason in his final days.

He was arrested and taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, who performed a battery of laboratory tests on Mason. He was transferred to Tarrant County Jail on December 24, 2024. Baylor Scott & White was kind enough to send a bill without lab results to Mason's parents.

The events from December 24 to 27 are not clear and we cannot state for certain what happened. Based upon phone conversations, we believe Mason was put on a "detox" and potentially administered insulin on the 24th and 25th.  From phone conversations and other communications Mason had with  friends, it is possible no further insulin was administered.

Mason was never in the hospital at JPS Health.  According to testimony from Sherriff Bill Waybourn at the January 14, 2025 meeting of the Tarrant County Commissioners, Mason's cell was visited 9 times in 4 days for medical issues, but was never taken to the hospital.

He died in jail custody at 10:36pm on December 27,2024.

Mason was the 9th in custody death in Tarrant County in 2024.
